Munich
Another long train ride was in store to get to Munich. Now that we got the story straight about the reservations (which we didn't need), it was just a matter of showing up at the station in the afternoon, hoping they were right and taking a 7 hour train ride.
It turned out to be quite a fabulous ride. Nancy got to see numerous castles along the cliffsides of Italy, Austria and then Germany. We saw "magical" cities tucked in between sheer green cliffs, with bridges that seemed to come out nowwhere(built by Sarah Palin?). The compartment we rode in was closed off with 6 seats that we hogged and it's own power! The seats folded completley flat from both sides to form a bed. For the length of ride, it couldn't have been better.
When we arrived in Munich we were better prepared to identify how to get to our hotel. The German people were more than happy to guide us to the right tram anyway.
Once we dropped off the bags, we need to get something to eat. We asked the desk and told us the locals go to the beer garden down on the left (Augustine). Sounded good us. It was better than we thought. They had a chicken! Sounds crazy, but this was hard to come by the last couple weeks. The man took out his butcher knife and whacked a full roasted chicken in half and served it to Nancy and I. Add a liter of beer and we're golden!
Random thoughts:
1) In Bavaria the beers are all large!
2) According to Jared's German friends, the uglier and bitchier the waitress, the better the beer.
