We had one more hotel that was strategically booked at the Zurich airport location, so we easily make way in the morning. We didn't have to leave until 10:30, so this would be simple, right?
Arriving at the 5 Star (Moevenpick Zurich Hotel), we were greeted with champagne, a gift basket and of course a Swiss chocolate bar! Things were looking good for them earning their status. I think the gift basket may have been prompted by my comment that it was my 50th, but hey...There was chocolate on the pillows (wrapped of course) and also when they brought the extra towels. Ultimately we found out that their buffet breakfast was 33 CHF each and they charged for WIFI, so that knocked them down a notch or so.
Since we were in Zurich (within 1 train at least), we decided we should see what it's all about. It was somewhat like we expected. Lots of stores, big city. The bonus was that it had the alps and beautiful blue lake at the end of the busy shopping street. After a fabulous lunch, weren't too hungry and decided just to grab some "dinner" at the local market and bring it back to the hotel. Not so exciting, I know, but sometimes you just need downtime...
Random Thoughts:
1) Cool cars in Europe (ones you don't see in the US)
2) The scenery we saw on the train rides was spectacular!
3) Can I get a FREE glass of water?
4) They have nipples on their mannequins
5) There is an H&M store on EVERY other corner in Zurich!
6) Finally a LARGE cup of coffee!
