Since we had already been to Pisa and not seen the tower, we decided to go back as part of our trip to Florence. Pisa is only about a 45 Train ride from there. That part went really smooth. What we didnt know was that Pisa stands for Pickpockets In Stations Always.
We had two incidents on the bus to the leaning tower. The first one was a lady(used loosely), who was English and kind of brash, yelling at her kids and husband about which bus to take. She asked me and i had already somekne at the station so i knew. When she got on thebus, Nancy saw two young girls get on the bus quickly and then right back off. She didn't think anything at the time. But as the bus started moving the English lady was ranting like mad, but again we didnt think much about it until she said her passport and all her money were gone.
The next time was on the way back from the tower. We got on the bus leisurely sat down and all of the sudden there was a major argument and pushing and shoving in the front door entrance of the bus. We looked over to see a man shove this screaming woman and her infant strapped to the front of her, off the bus and almost down on the ground. Then a girl took an open hand smacked her. Ultimately the policia showed up and we're not sure, but we think it was a diversion to cause a scene. There were two other girls that came and stood by me (one was even going to sit next to me), who said they were picked. They got booted too. We don't if they were involved too, because screaming in Italian is the same as taking in Italian...
We did get to see the leaning tower, which was the reason for the trip (not the side show). It lived up to it's leaningness . Nancy was not real keen on going to the top and it turned out we needed a pass and time (which we had neither). Oh well, the fun is taking the photos holding it up and pushing it down!
Random thoughts:
1) Really , they charge per bag in the taxis in addition to the ride? Even if you hold them on your lap.
2) oh yeah and they don't help you with them!
3) WIFI is getting suckier!
4) Went to Pisa twice and never had pizza?
The hotel in Florence was a little bit of an adventure , considering I thought it was in a town called Figline, about 45 minutes south by train (long story). It lead to a slightly anxious and cranky time, but utimately we made it back to Firenze (Florence) and found the place.
Not a real big place, but 4 beds and fairly clean.
Still can't post pictures...maybe in Germany...
